First Birthday Party – It Was A Hoot – OWL themed!

We woke to a big dumping of snow.

Fortunately, the snow melted and the sun was shining and lots of friends joined us to celebrate Maebh’s first birthday.  Unfortunately, a bunch were sick and couldn’t come, but it was a lot of fun with those who did make it.

We did an Owl themed party, which turned out to be a HOOT! 😉

Here are tons of photos of the big party and a video.  On her actual birthday, we will probably give her an ice cream treat.

Look WHOOO’s Turning ONE! – Maebh’s first birthday!

On April 2nd we’re going to celebrate Maebh’s first birthday with a OWL Themed birthday party.

I got the idea from Erin (whose friend is doing a similar party for her one year old out in Denver, CO).  Anyway, she got the idea from another blog, Across The Branch and it’s pretty popular now to do an Owl theme.. thankfully we’re the first in our group.  I fell in love with it and decided to also have an Owl party for Maebh.

Below you’ll see the actual invites, extra owls for decorations.  I also added an owl to the back of the envelope with our return address.

Stay tuned for more stuff added about the party.

For the kids, I’m going to do owl cupcakes.  I’m doing a combination of chocolate ones and vanilla ones.  I came across these different ones and am probably going to do similar ones.

Very chocolate owls
These are Carrot Cake Owls
These are SO cute. I might make this “style” with carrot cake and cream cheese frosting.
Really cute chocolate ones with oreos eyes and brows and m&m noses

Another idea for favor – bag of candies with Owl thank you card above.

Another favor along the same idea.. Owl card with candies in cellophane bags.  If I did this idea, I’d use googlie eyes and same colors I used to match the invites.  I did a quick sample with my colors and patterns but they need some work to make them more similar but I ran out of free time to work on them.

Colorful Party Hats for the kids – I’ll make with the coordinating colors/prints.

First Birthday Party: Soren

Our baby turns ONE!  I just went back to an old laptop and found a bunch of photos so I’m updating this post when Soren is TEN!  Here are photos from his first birthday party!!

Sadly he was not feeling too well during his party.
Here are some of the many photos taken of Soren on his first birthday.  I just loved how his hair was so fuzzy and spiky.  He was not feeling so well and really was mad when everyone was laughing at him.  The “theme” of his first birthday party was “FOOTBALL” .  Based on his new obsessions, his second birthday will probably be Bob The Builder or Thomas The Tank.

Typical Boston weather in January, snow on the ground but the party still will go on!

The house in Marblehead was very cozy and a perfect place for the party.

Our friends were there too…

Of course, while I remember a lot, I remember he was not well – teething and bit of a cold.
