Rediscovery Centre @ Howth Library

Today the kids were up at Howth Library for an art project with the Rediscovery Centre .. they did bug hotels from old cardboard milk cartons, played games, and had a great time.  They must not have explained what they were doing well as there were only FOUR kids there, including themselves.

I’m also going to make it a point to get them involved with Owls.ie, the nature program here in Dublin.  I’ve been wanting to do it for a while and for whatever the reason, we’ve not yet made it work.  I know they’d LOVE it!

Wood carvings, campfires, bug hotels, pond dipping, nature camps – their dream come true!

Here they were learning about camouflage.  The bright-colored “worms” were much easier to find.

And while the kids were there for 1.5 hours (it was a child only event – sadly no bug hotel for me).  I popped across the road to check out the American Food Section. Not that I miss all this processed junk there are a few things which I’d enjoy!

I loved the craft and would like to do more with them in the future. Going to keep an eye on their site and see what they have upcoming in Ballymun.

We’ve done quite a bit of things with the library this summer – the kids were with Fiona d her dog Ollie from the Dogs Trust.  They learned about looking after dogs from everything a dog needs to be happy and healthy to how to safely pet a dog.  They even did a quiz to find out what canine career best suited – both got DOG TRAINER!  The best part was Maebh kept saying after to me that “Dogs are for life, not for Christmas!”
