East Runton Fun Fair & Amazing Sunset

Each year, between Cromer and East Runton on the Clifton Fields, a local Fun Fair comes & sets up for two weeks.  Each ride costs 9p.  It’s the typical fun fair with some kiddy rides, thrill rides, scary houses and then some games and it is all lit up with music playing.  As expected, our kids would love it and really wanted to go.
The first ride we really saw was the round up – which I used to go on all the time, but after my last ride on it at Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom with Jessica and Nicole (and Erica?) can’t remember, but I won’t do it again.

As a reward for a long nap for Maebh and being a great kid, after dinner we headed out.  We told the kids that they could each could go on three rides and play one game.

We started off with the giant slide – but Maebh was a little too short.  I’m sure she could have done it at least once with some struggles getting up, but they were pretty strict.  So Soren did it alone.  3 times down it for 99p.  He loved it.

The kids took a ride on the car roller coaster –  Soren chose and orange Hummer and Maebh a pink one, of course.

Next up with the crazy train with a bell.  The kids got in and I could tell Maebh was a bit nervous, but she did it.  After the first hill, which scared her a little, she loved it.  The funniest part was when it went backwards, they were in hysterics laughing.

And finally their last ride was a fun house, with ball pits, slide and other fun things like a wheelie thing inside & crazy mirrors.  After a while, we heard loads of screaming so I popped inside to see what it was like and they were having a great time down the slide around and down again – 20 times.  The only one thing is that the stairs are quite steep and high and could be a problem and getting out of the second ball pit was hard for Maebh.  Next time, I’ll go in with them again to be sure she is okay.

Finally, we told the kids that they could each play a game…. luckily we found one that was easy enough to win something – hook Winnie The Poo.  Both kids hooked and got a #3 so they could choose a prize.  Soren chose a bow & arrow toy with suction arrows and Maebh a giant ball on a cord.  Both were very happy with their prize.  Soren’s prize, was going to certainly  “Amused Funny” hjm – clearly made in China.

Once we left, we drove over to West Runton beach so I could take a photo of the amazing sunset.  I didn’t have my good camera with me, so these iPhone shots were the best I could get.

And a video to really capture the beauty.

I am an American currently living in the Netherlands. I enjoy snapping photos and blogging along the way about our family’s journey as we moved from USA to the UK for a couple years then onto Ireland for three & half years and now in our next adventure in the Netherlands where the kids and are are learning Dutch. As you can probably tell by the name of the blog “Stars, Stripes & Mayonnaise” our family is half American & half Dutch and if you know one thing about the Dutch is that they LOVE their mayonnaise! I seen ’em do it man, they fuckin‘ drown ’em in it. When I started this blog way when it was to capturing memories of our family – essentially a journal of our family adventures, their love of mayonnaise, my love of photography, D.I.Y., crafting, sea glass hunting and exploring with our two amazing kids.
