Blake’s Outer Space 5th Birthday Party

Our family attended Blake, Soren’s best pals 5th birthday party.  The theme was Outer Space and, as with all their parties, they are well thought out and are great fun with tons of games, yummy food & drink.

The wonderful warm, sunny weather was perfect too.  When it was a bit too warm, the kids cooled down in the Crazy Daisy sprinkler which a friend of theirs brought with them.  She told me she picked it up at a festival, so I’m on the hunt for it as it will be so fun for the kids in our garden.

The kids were all playing on a large wagon, which one time picked up a lot of speed going down hill with Maebh holding onto the back.  I yelled for her to let go and she fell on her face…. ooops.

She also found the mini trampoline in the garden & spent a lot of time on that and dancing around the field. I’m on the look out for a mini trampoline for the kids.  I saw one for 5 on the internet, but was too late to get it. She loves the dole one with a handle found at the Take A Break Playground in the town center and one in Harvey’s yard, which she often talks about.

Mark organized various “Space” themed games.  First they played Find the Space Rocks.  Mark broke the kids, who wanted to play, into two groups.  They’d relay race, one by one, out into the field, move the little cone things & bring back the space rock underneath.  The team with the most space rocks win.  At the end, each kid got to keep a space rock which was painted gold/silver.

Then David, Blake’s Grandfather, dressed up as an Alien and drove kids through the field in the back of his tractor in the Space Cadets Alien Blaster. The poor guy was so hot but was a great sport and kept giving the kids rides. Once in the field, they’d shoot aliens (laminated signs) with their large water guns.  Soren loved this so much, he had three rides.  Maebh had fun too, but as you’ll see one time, she didn’t even have a water gun, rather spent the time eating her freeze pop while on the ride.

The last game was to break the Robot Piñata, which Billie made, and get the sweets inside. Each kid had a turn whacking it.  Finally when all the candy dropped, it was a free for all to get as much as you can.

When it was cake time, you’ll see my two kids just staring at it as if they’ve never had cake before – lol.

Was a lot of fun & they have a great big backyard where all the kids could just run wild.  The grandparents who live just next door, have chickens and a bunny, so I took a trip over there to see them, as I really want to have some chickens.  Next house perhaps.

Author: Stars Stripes and Mayonnaise

I am an American currently living in the Netherlands. I enjoy snapping photos and blogging along the way about our family’s journey as we moved from USA to the UK for a couple years then onto Ireland for three & half years and now in our next adventure in the Netherlands where the kids and are are learning Dutch. As you can probably tell by the name of the blog “Stars, Stripes & Mayonnaise” our family is half American & half Dutch and if you know one thing about the Dutch is that they LOVE their mayonnaise! I seen ’em do it man, they fuckin‘ drown ’em in it. When I started this blog way when it was to capturing memories of our family – essentially a journal of our family adventures, their love of mayonnaise, my love of photography, D.I.Y., crafting, sea glass hunting and exploring with our two amazing kids.
