Mundesley Beach

Late yesterday afternoon we set off towards the Overstrand playground, but instead, we thought we’d check out Mundesley Beach as I was told there was a nice playground over there.  Apart from this one tiny patch of grass with a RNLI station and a memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives while attempting to clean up the bombs… we didn’t venture into the town at all.  Those there is a store called Anna?? and I’ve been wanting to go there to get a SeaSalt Burlap Bag.  Such cute designs – next time!

We have never stopped to explore the town and we didn’t go into the village but popped down to the beach, which is great and we’ll be going there again.  In fact, the parking is so close to the beach, it’s a great place to bring a picnic or small evening portable BBQ, as you don’t have to walk a huge distance.

I think Maebh looks like Charlie from Charlie & Lola here – 🙂

We never found the playground but did find a pub called The Ship Inn. It was just up on the cliff with a small kids play area and picnic tables, so we got a pint and hung out there for an hour or so before heading home for dinner.

The larger boats you see in the background is their “Outdoor grille” for the summer where there is a cook inside making hot dogs, fries, burgers, etc.

When we were there, we say some paragliders flying above us so that was an added bonus.  Both Nils & I would love to do this….but I think I’d probably like to do it tandem with an instructor for a few times – probably have to anyways.  There are so many videos on from people who have glided from the area.  This is one from Cromer to Mundesley… amazing views.

But one awful thing happened on the way home.  Poor Soren fell really hard while crossing the street and had a huge cut on his head and hurt his knee pretty badly.  Add that to his already painful bug bite and he was a bit of a mess last night.  So he and Maebh had ice cream for dessert along with extra kisses & hugs..

Author: Stars Stripes and Mayonnaise

I am an American currently living in the Netherlands. I enjoy snapping photos and blogging along the way about our family’s journey as we moved from USA to the UK for a couple years then onto Ireland for three & half years and now in our next adventure in the Netherlands where the kids and are are learning Dutch. As you can probably tell by the name of the blog “Stars, Stripes & Mayonnaise” our family is half American & half Dutch and if you know one thing about the Dutch is that they LOVE their mayonnaise! I seen ’em do it man, they fuckin‘ drown ’em in it. When I started this blog way when it was to capturing memories of our family – essentially a journal of our family adventures, their love of mayonnaise, my love of photography, D.I.Y., crafting, sea glass hunting and exploring with our two amazing kids.
