Squirt Guns = Failure

Today Maebh and I were at the grocery store and as we drove down the seasonal aisle, she spotted some water guns and asked to get them.  As they have only one, which the kids picked up at a car boot sale, I got two of the same ones.  So all around the store, she was playing with them and talked about her and Soren squirting each other.  When we picked up Soren and showed him the water guns, he was excited.  He asked if they could get their swim suits on and go in the back yard to squirt each other.

So both kids in their swimsuits headed out in the back yard.  As it was sunny, but not that warm, I put warm water in the guns and sent them out.  Within 30 seconds of being squirted by Soren, Maebh was in hysterics crying that she didn’t want to get wet.

Soren wanted to play more, so I took Maebh’s water gun and started squirting him.  He was having fun but the seconds later, same thing, crying that he didn’t want to get his Yow Yow’s shirt wet.

With two crying kids who didn’t want to get wet, the water guns were not as fun as hoped.  They did enjoy watering the plants and squirting themselves in the mouth with the water.

After dinner, they took a bath and brought the water guns in and had some fun and a big wet mess outside the tub.

Perhaps once it’s really warm out the water guns in the backyard will be more fun.

Author: Stars Stripes and Mayonnaise

I am an American currently living in the Netherlands. I enjoy snapping photos and blogging along the way about our family’s journey as we moved from USA to the UK for a couple years then onto Ireland for three & half years and now in our next adventure in the Netherlands where the kids and are are learning Dutch. As you can probably tell by the name of the blog “Stars, Stripes & Mayonnaise” our family is half American & half Dutch and if you know one thing about the Dutch is that they LOVE their mayonnaise! I seen ’em do it man, they fuckin‘ drown ’em in it. When I started this blog way when it was to capturing memories of our family – essentially a journal of our family adventures, their love of mayonnaise, my love of photography, D.I.Y., crafting, sea glass hunting and exploring with our two amazing kids.
