A potential rental home in Sheringham!

I woke up this am to two more potential rental homes listed on RightMove.co.uk  One in Sheringham and one in West Runton.  I immediately emailed them both.  No idea why the person at the rental agency didn’t contact us, knowing the first home in Sheringham would be something we’d want to view.

Three bedroom semi-detached house is sought after Sheringham. The property which is spacious and extremely well presented through out comprises; entrance hall, lounge, second reception room, kitchen/dining/family room, utility, downstairs WC, three bedrooms, family bathroom, gardens and off road parking. Unfurnished and available March 2013 and for

Located in the town I want to live, Sheringham, a 3-bedroom home WITH a parking spot and a small rear garden!?   It is literally on the street across from the home we viewed.  Anyway, this am I emailed and phoned their office to express interest and see if we can have a showing immediately.  They got back to me so we’re trying to find a time to view it next week. Hopefully we are the first to see it.  So many times, others get in an view it and then it’s “pending application” aka not a chance.  Got a call back, we’re in and able to see in on Monday at 11 am.
The house is 30 The Avenue, so it’s a few blocks from the beach and a few streets away from the main shopping streets – PERFECT location! The zip code is NR26 8DG so you’ll see where it is on the map.  Perfect to walk into town – as Maebh and I are there 4 days out of 5 doing mommy & me playgroup things it’s perfect.  We will save so much gas!! 🙂 It’s 4.5 miles (12 minutes as they are all back roads) to Soren’s school so that is ideal too.   We could technically send the kids to the local school but we prefer the smaller school.

Front of house – end terrace house
Living Room

Good sized bedroom
Kitchen – Eat in, granite and nice stove (gas!!)
View of dining part of kitchen with doors opening to garden.
Dining room – which they use as an office (full of stuff).  We’d probably do an office/playroom area.
Another bedroom with built ins
Family bathroom upstairs/
Backgarden  not huge, but large enough fro the kids in the warm weather.

The West Ruton property is a 3-bedroom bungalow with off street parking and a rear garden which is all gravel listed for £695.  It’s just down the street from West Runton Beach (home of the West Runton Elephant), as it is on Water Street. Again, Soren’s school is just a few miles away so the location is perfect!

This house would be available mid-April per the Realtor at Watson.   It’s a bit of a ways away, but still it is something that might suit our needs, so we’ll view it.  Waiting to hear back from the estate agent, but I think we’ll view it on Monday.

If I learned one thing with the rental market, you have to be QUICK to view AND don’t trust the photos on
the internet as they can be worse or better than you’ll see in person!

I just drove by both homes today when I went to pick up Soren and this house is TERRIBLE.  I will see it only if Nils wants to – as to me, it’s not a great house. It looks tiny, a little grubby and right on the street.  The  tiles you see is the off-road parking spot.  Plus it’s for sale.

Courtyard for chalk play and scooters.
Eating area where we’ll have a BBQ
View of yard.

Back yard, kids will have fun.  Loads of flowers.
More ugly, dated furniture, but big room off conservatory (playroom)

Decent size room – continue to ignore ugly furniture.
Eat in area – ignore again hideous furniture & GIANT fish tank??
Kitchen looks good – Big fridge, good counters, plenty of cabinets, gas stove.

Conservatory – Great – ignore hideous furnitre!

UPDATE:  We got the house in Sheringham, but in taking a step back there were too many “what ifs” in the future, so we decided to tell them that we are not going to take it after all and that they should move forward with another couple who were also interested.  It would be great, but like I said, too many ‘what ifs”.

Author: Stars Stripes and Mayonnaise

I am an American currently living in the Netherlands. I enjoy snapping photos and blogging along the way about our family’s journey as we moved from USA to the UK for a couple years then onto Ireland for three & half years and now in our next adventure in the Netherlands where the kids and are are learning Dutch. As you can probably tell by the name of the blog “Stars, Stripes & Mayonnaise” our family is half American & half Dutch and if you know one thing about the Dutch is that they LOVE their mayonnaise! I seen ’em do it man, they fuckin‘ drown ’em in it. When I started this blog way when it was to capturing memories of our family – essentially a journal of our family adventures, their love of mayonnaise, my love of photography, D.I.Y., crafting, sea glass hunting and exploring with our two amazing kids.
