I’m sitting here inside the conservatory in Gunthorpe, Norfolk, thinking yes, it does look beautiful and much like a fairy tale outside, but I’m sick of it already! I’m sick of being stuck inside, not being able to get Soren to school this week, enjoy some mum & me things with Maebh up in Sheringham, etc. Come on, I’m from Boston, we’re used to having 2 feet of snow dumped on us in a day, but the area is far more prepared and used to that amount of snow. The region is not crippled, we do not call for elected officials to resign due to road conditions. We don’t have trucks stuck on hills and cars on their sides in ditches. Sure, Boston drivers are crazy, rude, often dangerous but I think they can drive better in the snow then those here in North Norfolk.
Some of you might have seen the BBC’s special news program about the snow last night, in which the weather forecaster, John Hammond explained why it is so cold and snowy and gave an indication of how long this kind of weather is going to stick around. You can watch and listen to part of it here.
I’m going to stay positive and go with the five-day forecast shown below, makes me a little hopeful that some of this snow might actually melt. In looking at the chart listed on the local newspaper online, there might be a little rain in the future and a high and low max temperature of 4c which is 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit!! I don’t expect snow to go away overnight. But at least it’s above freezing both day & night – whoo hooo!
You know the weather is bad when over 250 schools in North Norfolk closed their doors due to weather!
