Thursford – Amazing Christmas Variety Show

Yesterday Nils and I were able to attend the Christmas Spectacular show at Thursford.  It’s a huge Broadway-style show which is great enough to be on London’s West End.  In fact, it’s England’s largest Christmas show and has been going on for 36 years! The town we live in is given FREE seats two shows a year and when the invite came in, we jumped on it.

The Thursford Christmas Spectacular is the biggest and most exciting Christmas show of all time in Britain. Come and experience the popular blend of Christmas entertainment, with dazzling dancers, beautiful costumes, Christmas songs, carols, including outstanding music and singing from our cast of over 120!! The organist was spectacular too!

The Comedian Paul Adams was very funny and kept the audience laughing each time he came out to tell a joke.

Each show is a pageant of spectacle and colour – the music a seamless transition from an up-beat dance routine to a choral rendition of a Christmas carol, a show which would not be out of place in any London’s west end theatres.

So many of the numbers were amazing.  If Ed Rooney was alive, he’d be awe.  In fact, I’m thinking he has seen the show.  I will never forget the show, it was that spectacular!

In addition to this show, which runs twice a day, they have a walk through area called Santa’s Magical Journey, which I think is a bit like the Enchanted Village but on steroids.  We didn’t go as our tickets didn’t include admission but we may when the family is here.  It is quite expensive though at £9 for adults and £15 per child!   Might spend the money on Xmas presents instead  and take the kids when they get older. 🙂
